David Cragoe

Originally from Minnesota, I always longed for a place that was not so cold. I wanted to live somewhere with lots of sunshine and warm weather throughout the year. After finishing college it was time to Make the move! The year was 1988, and after considering several locations, San Diego came up first on the list. Besides having temperate weather throughout the year the diverse terrain and microclimates intrigued us. Shortly after arriving Patty and I began to explore the backcountry and soon discovered the Anza-Borrego Desert State Park. There was something enchanting about the desert that kept us coming back again and again. After exploring the park from South to North we came upon the town of Borrego Springs and loved it. From that point forward it was our goal to someday live here.

I started my real estate career in 1991 selling homes in the San Diego metro area. In 2003 Patty and I started our own real estate brokerage. In 2005 the owners of Road Runner Realty were looking to retire and sell the business. We were excited about the possibility of moving to Borrego Springs and after some careful thought decided the time was right. After being here for more than ten years we love this place more than ever. We are surrounded by such a great group of clients and friends we can’t think of a nicer place to help people live out their dreams.

Patty Cragoe

Growing up in Minnesota I learned to live in extreme weather conditions that make living through a summer in Borrego a breeze! In 1988 David and I decided to move to San Diego. We packed up our Datsun 210, strapped David’s windsurfer on top, and headed for California. Young and eager to start a new life, I worked for the Navy as a civilian employee and then went on to become an Orthopedic Technologist in the medical field. I became a licensed real estate agent in 2003 and started selling property in San Diego. It was really a lot of fun and I met lots of very nice people. A couple of years later we were offered a great opportunity to take over Road Runner Realty. We always wanted to live in Borrego Springs but we were not ready to retire. Moving away from the city was a bit of a culture shock for me at first but it didn’t take long to adapt. It is such a peaceful place with dark skies and beautiful mountains that seem to engulf the entire valley. Every time we take it all in while sitting in our backyard, we have what I call a Nat Geo experience. A beautiful hawk will land in a nearby palm tree or a roadrunner will sit on our fence. From the diverse wildlife to the incredible weather systems that give us more photo ops than I can count, I feel very fortunate to live my life in such a beautiful place. I have met a lot of people working in this business over the years, some who have traveled the world over. It amazes me how many of them consider Borrego Springs as one of the most incredible places they have ever been. I love helping people find a piece of this special place that they can call their own.
